In open range land, some cattle will wander away from the main herd, often hiding their calves in thick brush or more rugged terrain. Ranchers know the number of cattle they should have and are aware these cows are missing. On a later day cowboys will go back out in search of these wild cattle, often taking trained dogs with them to help detect and gather these rebellious bovines from their rocky hiding spots. It is challenging and dangerous work. In this, drawing Skeeter Crawford and his dogs set off in the high desert in search of the wild cows.
